Tenders for the construction of the second section of the Bundaberg and Mount Perry Railway were opened yesterday in the presence of several contractors and of the representatives of the Press. There were four tenderers-namely:
Messrs. J. and A. Overend and Co., £139,219 1s 2d.
J. Gargett and Co., £137,619 0s. 2d.
J. T. Brigg and Co., £120,916 7s. 8d.
M'Dermott, M'Cormack, and Stewart, £103,953 7s. 1d.
The acceptance of the tender rests with the Executive, but we presume the lowest tender will be accepted.
Tenders were received yesterday at the public offices for the following works :-
For the erection of water tanks at Woogaroo:
F. L. Smith, 14 weeks, £810
J. M'Kenzie, 4 months, £897
Wm. Hancock, 4 mouths, £800
John Farrelly, 3 months, £985
E. Gillingwater, 5 mouths, £705
John Pye and Co., 12 weeks, £794 15s.
At the Commissioner for Railways' office:-
For the erection of a goods shed at Stanthorpe:
H. Pears, 12 weeks, £592
J. Gargett and Co., 3 months, £580
and W. Welsby, 12 weeks, £672 5s.
Tenders were due yesterday at Blackall and Rockhampton for the erection of a new gaol at Blackall, but no advices were received about them, The tenders will probably be received by telegram in the course of to-day.
