This little sketch is characteristic of the scenery to be found in the neighborhood of Fremantle, Western Australia. The inn is at Rockingham, about 14 miles from Fremantle, and is a well-known resort for weary travellers; it is on the road to Bunbury, and has a very singular appearance. It is surrounded by grass-trees, or "Black Boys" as they are called, and perhaps presents as picturesque a view altogether, as is often seen in the colonies. The accompanying sketch was taken by a traveller on the spot, who was struck by the native beauty of the surrounding landscape.
