Desirable Tea Dish (1890)


DESIRABLE TEA DISH.

Cut half a pound of cheese into small pieces; mingle with it two tablespoonfuls of butter, and place together in a bowl with a quarter of a small bowlful of bread crumbs; pour over this a teacupful of scalding milk; add a little salt and the beaten yolks of three eggs. Mix well, place the dish back on the stove and stir until all is dissolved; then add the whites beaten stiff. Pour out on a buttered plate and bake for twenty minutes in a brisk oven. To be eaten as soon as done.
