? Silver Fish Destructive.
Silver fish are most destructive, much more destructive than moths, They like fabrics that have starch or flour paste in them, so that they go for such things as the backs of books, pictures, wall-papers, the lining of shoes, while they also make small round holes in clothes. Where they are not very bad advantage may be taken of their liking for starch to poison them. Slip bits of cardboard, on which a thick boiled starch paste, liberally poisoned with arsenic, has been spread and dried, into all crevices where they occur. But this plan is not to be recommended in places to which children have access. Powdered borax or insecticide powders sprinkled in their haunts, and benzine sprayed into crevices, have also been recommended, but where the pest is very bad only drastic fumigation will effect a complete clearance.
