MILITARY FORCES OF THE COMMONWEALTH.
Australian Imperial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, has been pleased to approve of a Military Force being formed of persons who voluntarily agree to serve beyond the limits of the Commonwealth, to be designated the "Australian Imperial Force," consisting of One Division, one Light Horse Brigade; that Brigadier General W. T. Bridges, C.M.G., Inspector-General, be appointed to organize and command the Force; that the undermentioned be appointed to be Officers of the Force:—

Colonel Ryan, C. S., F.D. - Army Medical Corps - Principal Medical Officer, 3rd Military District

Colonel Hobbs, J. J. T., V.D. - Commanding 22nd Infantry Brigade

Colonel Sellheim, V. C. M., C.B. - Administrative and Instructional Staff - Adjutant-General

Lieut.-Colonel Patterson, W. G. - Administrative and Instructional Staff - Staff Officer to Inspector-General

Lieut.-Colonel Forsyth, J. K. - Administrative and Instructional Staff - Quartermaster-General (temporary)

Major Austin, J. G. - Army Ordnance Department - Director of Ordnance Services

Major White, C. B. B. - Royal Australian Garrison Artillery - Director of Military Operations

Major Glasfurd, D. J. - Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders - Director of Military Training

Captain Marsh, J. T. - Army Service Corps - Director of Supply and Transport

Captain Foster, W. J. - Administrative and Instructional Staff - General Staff Officer, Grade III., Head-quarters

Honorary Lieut.-Colonel Thomas, T. J. - Officer-in-Charge Administration, Royal Military Hospital

Honorary Captain Griffiths, T. - Secretary, Military Board

Warrant Officer Maycock, W. C. - Army Service Corps - Quartermaster-General's Department, Head-quarters

(Warrant Officer Maycock is granted the rank of Lieutenant whilst employed with the Australian Imperial Force); and that the undermentioned officers be appointed to command brigades as shown hereunder of the Australian Imperial Force:—

1st Infantry Brigade - Lieut.-Colonel MacLaurin, H. N. - 26th Infantry Regiment - Commanding 26th Infantry

2nd Infantry Brigade - Colonel McCay, The Hon. J. W., V.D. - Unattached List

3rd Infantry Brigade - Lieut.-Colonel Sinclair-MacLagan, E., G., D.S.O. - Yorkshire Regiment - Director of Drill, Royal Military College
